Isn't Ballroom Dancing Rigid & Stuffy? Most people think of ballroom dancing as being "rigid" and "stuffy". This misconception couldn't be farther from the truth. Many nightclubs play music that you can ballroom dance to...if you know how! Top-40 and "dance" clubs typically play many Swings, Rumbas, Cha Chas, Foxtrots and Sambas. And with today's current Latin craze, people are discovering Latin nightclubs and find that they recognize the Mambo's, Merengues, and Cha Chas being played from listening to pop radio. |
| Do I need a partner? We teach both singles and couples at Rhythm of the Night Dance Studio. If you come in as a single student, your instructor will be your partner for private lessons. For group classes it is in your best interest to have a partner. We have found in the Chatham area there are not many singles that come out to the classes therefore making it difficult to pair up singles. The instructors are busy giving their attention to the students as a whole therefore they cannot be expected to dance with you during the classes. If you are comfortable with that then you are more than welcome to attend classes on your own. |
What should I wear? Wear something comfortable that won't inhibit your body movement. Of course, comfortable shoes are a must! We suggest a pair of leather-soled shoes for maximum ease. Running shoes and rubber soles shoes can be worn but will greatly inhibit foot movement. |
| Why does R.O.T.N. not have a dedicated Studio? We both continue to work in our individual careers. A permanent studio would add a high overhead cost and that would have to be passed on to the students. It is our intention to keep costs down and more affordable for our students. |
